A revitalized Medvedev won his initial championship for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging period, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in particular - caused him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with former trainer Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks his initial title after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt from that period of that year.

Victory also means he has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one different events.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters together, so to win a title is really nice," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six finals, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's retrieving play style and regular outbursts on court had prompted observers to wonder if his ability to perform at the highest level was over.

But the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform assertively, backed up by an better serve.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his first ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to force a final set.

He saved four initial break points in a competitive deciding set before the Russian broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner earned the win with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
